My deepest sympathy is extended. I have known Debbie and her family for almost 30 years. I started preaching while in Germany and Debbie was one of the teenagers at that time. She and her family have always put God first in their lives. I am a better person today for knowing them. May the Lord use this to His glory.

Dear Dewey, Aurora, and all of Debbie's family,
I can only imagine how complicated this anniversary must feel to all of you. I know for myself, though, that my thoughts also turn to so many good memories, like the very first time I met Debbie when swimming in Santa Monica. She was so happy and optimistic, and I feel lucky our paths entwined after that. Please know I'm holding Debbie and all of you in my thoughts right now. xxoo

It is so good to hear all of your exciting news and to see how Aurora is growing--and glowing. What a beautiful young lady she is becoming. You are doing a wonderful job as a single parent, Dewey, and I know Debbie felt every confidence that you would be up to the task. Your love and care for Aurora are very evident in your writing and pictures. Merry Christmas and God bless you both.

Hello Dewey, Aurora and family,

I was given your blog several years ago by my good friend Rebecca Dague Marec. She has since passed on and gone to be with the Lord God. However, I followed Debbie and your family in this journey. I have to tell you that I feel as though I know you all. It is such an odd experience to come to know someone through their words and pictures but to never hear their voice or meet them in person. I am also happy to see that Aurora and Dewey are doing well. I cannot believe how big Aurora has gotten. She is beautiful just like her mother!

I was diagnosed with stage IV, IBC in Nov. of 2004. I have three little ones, my twins Heather and Joseph are 6 and a half and their little sister, my baby Hannah, is 4 and a half. There are many times when I think of those whom have gone on to heaven before me. And seeing your family and how you are all doing, brings me peace of mind. I too know that we will all be reunited in heaven for all of eternity, one day. That knowledge brings me peace as well. I am truely sorry for your loss. I cannot imagine how much you miss Debbie. But I also believe that time is different in heaven. Maybe once we walk through heavens gate and meet all of our loved ones who passed before us, there behind us in line will be our families that passed after us. I almost cant imagine it any other way, because I cant imagine not missing my family and fearing for them in this life if I was in heaven. Sorry to ramble on... I just want you to know that you all are in my thoughts and prayers, especially today. May God bless you all with great love and peace! Love and blessings, alaina koplow

I know you must have mixed emotions at this time of the year, the sad memory of a loved one's passing and the sweet memory of Christmases past.Just keep the faith for you will meet again in a land of no pain,no sorrow or tears, where time has no measure of hours, day or years, just eternity.

Hi Dewey and Aurora
Thank you so much for your update and the gorgeous pictures of Aurora- she is exactly how i would have imagined Debbie's little girl to be- so graceful, natural, beautiful, slender, pure...just gorgeous! Dear Dewey and Aurora, Thank you for the recent news of your time in Georgia and New York. I'm grateful to you for staying in touch and keeping all of us far-flung well-wishers up to date. I know you will let us know when you next come to CA, when the little dog Mister will be pleased to have Aurora back as a pal. Everytime I see the pink fairy wings I got him to wear to Aurora's party I have a laugh. Until then, all the best to you, and warm greetings to Sherri's family, too.

Cher Dewey,

A merry Chritsmas, Dewey, for you and your daughter, for you and your whole family. Jean-Louis Cloët. (The Lazuriste)

(here's the rest... don't know what happened before)

... Now, as always, I hear her saying "You have to come!" And, in faith, I nod my head and agree that whatever the road that takes us there, for her, for us, the final Truth is worth it.

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

With much love,
Laura Gerard

Dewey and Aurora, we love you. We pray for you often. We think of you on this day and many days. We look forward to news of your family, changed, but full of love, with more light than darkness, and more laughter than tears. We wish we could be with you.

Earl and Judy, Sherri, Earl, Michael, and Tami, you also have our prayers. Thank you for sharing the lyrics to that song Sherri. It's honest; I am soothed by it today.

I pray also for Debbie's friends, who, like me, continue to miss her. May we all remember her unwavering desire to see the good in each of us, and to turn our eyes towards the Truth, the Light, the Good. Now, as always, I hear her saying

". . . for the rich, the poor, the person with cancer, the person without, the educated, the uneducated - it is in the domain of anyone of any culture to choose this moment to say, "Thank You, thank You, God, for our lives. Thank You for music. Thank you, mother and father, for being alive. Thank you my friend."
